Uggghhh!!! Hurst vs Kaplan

At the job fair Kaplan was there and the guy seemed desperate to get us to register. He wants to beat Hurst out here and started discounting it from 350 to 299 with a refundable 50 dollar deposit. I was confused which one to do. Kaplan has a huge test bank and other students were telling me Kaplan was better. But i heard from others Hurst is. I have three choices. Cancel Kaplan and keep Hurst. Cancel Hurst and Keep Kaplan. Or do both of them. Read More...

Advice on getting into a BSN program as a Freshman (former military)

I'm currently in the military... in Afghanistan at the moment. As my service commitment winds down I realize I need to prepare myself for success in getting into a good nursing program. I've been doing some research for the last few months, including trolling on this forum and visiting school websites. From everything I've learned I've identified a few points that may cause setbacks, as well as possible solutions... Read More...

Will I regret Nursing too?

I am currently considered a sophomore in the 4 yr BSN program and have heard other students and faculty talk about how nurses and nursing students get to a point where they question if nursing is what they really want to do in life. Striving for a nursing degree is the best choice I've made and I wish I would have known this since day 1...I'm just a slight bit concerned that I too will get to that point of questioning my future in nursing. I really hope not because I want my degree already AND I don't want to feel like I spent over 4 yrs in college for nothing. I don't want to feel undecided again. Also, I am curious if anyone has gone through that feeling of doubt and what might have happened to drive you there or bounce you back into your nursing passion? Read More...

Overwhelmed w/ Pharm and Medsurg!!

UGH! I am so overwhelmed w/ this schedule! My professors are totally uninterested in teaching. One gives us the answers before the test--she totally destroys any motivation in us to study. Pharm is so disastrous--this professor reads powerpoints verbatim and cannot answer questions because SHE DOES NOT KNOW THEM. It is hard because I am audiovisual... Do any of you have any recorded lectures or youtube videos that help you in med surg? Read More...

Fun ideas for a study group/party

Any fun ideas for a study group party? We are going to play a review board game to help prepare for NCLEX. I'm looking for inexpensive ideas for fun little prizes (and winning categories), decorations and such. So far I'm planning on utilizing smarties and dum dum candies. Come on all you creative party planners give me some ideas! :) also tell me about your experience if you've had or been to this kind of party before. Read More...

Tired of never feeling good about nursing school!

I'm an intelligent person, pretty good student, and good with time-management, so I just don't understand why nursing school has to be so unrelentlessly difficult. Our program is filled with intelligent, hardworking students and yet we are all constantly feeling like failures, battling stress, and trying to get it together and push on.

I feel sometimes as though we're being treated like naughty children instead of the hard working, capable adults we are. I've always heard that the military tears you down to build you back up again, if that's the idea nursing school has too I hope they get to the build you back up part soon!

Anyone else feel this way? Or do any of you attend a nursing school that is more positive, and has more mutual respect? Read More...

Kaplan Questions Can Be Funny...

I've come across so many questions with answers that are so ridiculous, they're funny. Sometimes, they're so funny, I have a hard time keeping my laughter silent (at our school's testing center). So, this has me thinking about the day I take my NCLEX. Are questions on NCLEX as ridiculous as Kaplan's, or are they far more serious? Read More...

I Want To Be A Nurse, But Don't Know Where To Start

I'm new to this site and just wondering if anybody could help me and provide any advice or direction. I really want to be a nurse, and I've been researching schools and what I need to do, however I'm unbelievably confused. There is so much information and I have so many questions. I know that I need to take prerequisites, but does it matter where? I noticed some schools require more classes than others. Does that mean if I take them at one school I apply to another schools program without taking the extra class? Read More...
