Those of us in the nursing field for twenty or more years have seen many changes to our profession, not in knowledge or scope of practice per se, but in the actual process of delivering care. We have rolled with it and adapted.
Until now. Somehow, this time it is different.
s this reasonable or legal. It has destroyed whatever personal life I had. Supervisors only seem concerned with statistics not quality patient care. What are my rights related to working for this agency a normal pace allowing me time for my daughter and self ?
In this tough economic time I'm so grateful to have a full time job. However, there are just days like today I rather stay in bed. I often have to remind myself of the rewards of working and things I can do with the money I will make. Here are just a few things that gives me that extra motivation to get up and get ready for work...

I am planning to do an online FNP profram and will work in a medically underserved area. I am trying to decide if I should take a chance on the more expensive private universities that require less travel and provide more assistance, or stick with less expensive but more-effort options.

I can't IMAGINE the number of patients who will be injured from falls if we don't hear the alert of an alarm, warning us that the resident may be in danger! I feel this action has the potential to cause serious injury to the patient...

During my nurse training I had to work with three other student nurses on one of the Elderly Care wards. This was fine and dandy, we all went in to the ward together and the Sister on the ward seemed very nice and friendly. We laughed and joked a wee bit and then she asked us our names, everyone else introduced themselves; Claire, Carla, Andrew but of course I was in a mischievous mood so I said "The names Bond, ..James Bond" in my best Scottish accent. She laughed away and so did everyone else and for the rest of my three month stint she called...
