The Dirtiest Word in Chronic Health Care

Did that title get your attention? I hope so, because what I'm about to share here could change the way you relate to difficult patients with chronic health issues, especially those with type 2 diabetes.

Collective Bargaining and Nursing Union

How to bring in a nurses union in a non union state?

I relocated to NC a few years ago from up north, and while I love it here I have been reminded time and again that this is a "right to work" state... We have had our schedules changed multiple times without any input or regard from the nurses, turnover rate is high, and staffing ratio is ridiculous.... Having come from a state with a union to fight for us nurses, I would love any and all input from anybody who knows anything about NC and why we have no unions here. I keep hearing people say that is is a very bad bill, but nobody can give me specifics as to why it is bad for the medical profession. Also, If anyone knows of any resources or sites to check out regarding the issue, that would be very helpful.

Are you happy as a nurse practitioner, or do you have regrets? Would you have been a PA or an MD if you had the chance to go back? Or was this the best path?

Nursing Student

Am I crazy, because this seems VERY WRONG...

I need some honest opinions from people outside my circle, as all of my fellow students share my same opinion and all the faculty blow sunshine up my you know what, when I even hint that the situation isn't right. So here is the deal...

Educate a dinosaur

I started nursing school in 1983... When I applied to nursing school, there was no HESI, or other entrance exams, aside from the ACT or SAT, and high school diploma. Done. When I graduated in May 1985, I took the NCLEX...
