Medicare does not appear as effective in meeting the health care needs of beneficiaries younger than 65 with disabilities as it is for beneficiaries age 65 and older, according to research published online Aug. 12 in Health Affairs.
The researchers found that the younger population had more trouble affording medications, were two times more likely than the older beneficiaries to suffer from five or more chronic conditions, were more than twice as likely to experience depression, and were four times as likely to have had severe pain in the last month. Half of the younger beneficiaries reported difficulty paying for health care in the last year, compared with 18 percent of older beneficiaries.

My supervisor told me tonight that HR was getting complaints from patients stating, "The BSN nurse gave better care than the non-BSN nurse." End result, only RN will go on namebadge.
Can a hospital legally take away your title of RN, BSN or RN MSN, etc.?
I agree with educating the patient about why they need to limit their fluid intake as well as addressing issues that might be causing a patient's desire for water such as a dry mouth or chronic cough. I also agree that we shouldn't offer water beyond the fluid restriction when a patient isn't asking for water. I disagree with the idea that a patient who is capable of making their own medical decisions can be denied water even if they have exceeded their fluid restriction when they ask for water.
I was in a system-wide orientation for my new job as an LPN. I just graduated (so technically until i take my boards and pass.. I'm a GPN). Anyway- there was a girl in our orientation that was an MA, and said she was a nurse at her Dr's office. I was a little taken a-back by this! Call me a brat but I went through a lot to get IN to nursing school, make the grades and graduate to be able to call myself a NURSE! Does this bother anyone else??

I am 30 years old male, and I was just accepted into a nursing program a year ago. I was very excited, but I allowed people to talk me out of the program. I was told that I was to old, that I had a weak stomach, that they don't see me as a nurse, and it would be hard becoming a nurse because I am a male. I thought they were right, but a year later I find myself regretting not starting the program.
I am in need for suggestions on whether I should attend a private nursing school or get on a wait list at a community college. I live in Los Angeles County, and the normal wait list at most community colleges here is from a year to 3 years. I don't want to waste any more time and would love to finish school ASAP, I would really appreciate it if any of you know of a good, and more economical private nursing schools in LA county
I am a new nursing student, and school starts in about a week and a half. I'm super excited about becoming anurse because it's something I wanted to do for a very very long time...I'm just wondering if any one has and tip on making it through nursing school. I've heard it can be rough so any suggestions would most definantly be appreciated!
Regional Discussion - New York
After not getting in to NYU, I decided to cast a wider net and applied to other schools in New York and also in other states. I was recently accepted to the 16 month accelerated BSN program at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Worcester, Mass.
They cost half the price of NYU, have a 100% NCLEX pass rate, and their alumni have some great things to say about the quality of education, quality of clinicals...
