Nursing Articles
This silly article makes complete fun of us female nurses who think we look really cool in scrubs. Oh, come on! You know it as well as I do. I sometimes think that the reason "they" became nurses, other than a karmic fulfillment or the need to be needed, for example, is that "they" actually like the way that um, "they" look and feel in "their" scrubs. Campy, foot loose and freaking fancy free in their well worn cotton, the fabric of our lives.

Most medical specialties saw modest compensation increases in 2009, but many provider organizations are still operating at a substantial loss, according to the findings of the American Medical Group Association's (AMGA) 2010 Medical Group Compensation and Financial Survey.

Dr. A has complained because the female nurses make eye contact with him. We were instructed to respect his (and other doctors) culture and NOT make eye contact or appear assertive. When asked to clarify assertive we were told assertive was "asking or suggesting something for the patients".
Excuse me! I am American and I am living in America! How come these doctors don't have to respect my culture? How come they don't have to respect me (I am a woman)?
They've cut our hours at work. The econony being the critical factor. The manager has been told to shave "x" amount of hours off of the budget. I don't work a traditional hospital floor job, but I do work in the hospital. We've been cut from 40hrs to 32hrs per week. Still full time, same benefits, etc
One time the charge nurse asked me to turn this patient who was comatose and could not close his eyes. He had no curtain and the sun was glaring in. I told her, "I did not turn him because the sun is in his eyes...." She agreed with me. Later on in another nursing home, I found a stroke patient who could not move and who was positioned with the sun burning her eyes out...

Hey i was just wondering how everyone paid for the excelsior lpn to rn program??? i was hoping to be able to take out a loan for the whole program is this possible? also is it like a regular student loan where you can take out extra to buy your own books ect.... what did everyone do and how did you do it?
Just ordered my books for first semester (junior year). Came out to $661, saves $88 by getting them through amazon, and that was buying them new at amazon vs used at bookstore. Bonus was that if you have an .edu email address you can get a free year of amazon prime, and get free 2 day shipping. So what did everyone else pay?
I try to prepare and make life a little more convenient ahead of time.
Now that I have been officially accepted into the nursing program, I will be doing a lot preparation in between each semester.
Here are a few things I do before I start my tough semesters...

Now, I'm not into nursing just for the salary. I'm in this for the long haul, and I want to do this for my career. But I've heard from several sources about how much money nurses make. Some say they don't make a lot, some say that they do. I'm not expecting to make half what surgeons make in a year, but honestly, how much does an RN make?
