Am I Babysitting or Supervising?

I feel I learned a lot in my nursing career from that experience, and will never allow myself to get in a position such as that again. It is no wonder that there is a nursing shortage; I had an ulcer from working there not to mention anxiety like I have never felt before. I even started smoking after quitting for 16 years. Talk about getting thrown into the fire!

ER Visits for Prescription Drug Misuse Climbing

From 2004 to 2008, emergency department visits involving the non-medical use of prescription drugs increased substantially in the United States, according to research published in the June 18 issue of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.

CNA doing Rectum Stimulation for Fecal Evacuation?

I work at an assisted living home and one of the patients needs rectal stimulation with a finger to induce evacuation of his fecal matter. This patient is paralyzed so he cannot do this himself. Question is should a CNA do this, we don't have any nurses in the building or Dr's. Also the patient has a large hemorrhoid and I am worried I could physically harm the patient, what should I do and is it right to tell them this is not for a CNA?

"Can I take one of your patients for this one?" "No! And I resent your asking!"

Listen to this debate from one work place.

"I don't have any I feel like trading."

"I don't want to, "give up," any of them."

"She just asked you to do something really easy!"

To nurses, do you wonder what might have been if you became a doctor?

I am aware that being a doctor and being a nurse are totally different...the thing is, my aunt who's been a nurse for 25 years or so, told me to consider being a doctor. she said that sometimes she wished she entered med school....i am a nurse and do sometimes wonder about med school...but....i hope not to continue wondering 20 years down the line......

Pre-Nursing Nurse Camp!!!!!

I'm super psyched!!! I just graduated from High School on June the 11th and i am that much closer to nursing school next fall and that much closer to becoming a nurse!!! As I have posted on other forums I am completing my pre-reqs starting this summer till next summer. Next week, June 22-25th, my local CC's nursing program is hosting its 2nd annual Camp S.C.R.U.B.S Nurse Camp.

Do I automatically get a CNA after first year in nursing school?

I took a lot of college courses but was never able to graduate due to some health reasons. Now, I am trying to get my life back together, starting over again. I'm planning to apply for the SPRING 2011 RN program at a community college. I wanted to build my resume. I don't have any job experience in the health field. I was wondering what are some good jobs I can earn experience and can help towards my nursing career.

Struggling.....Should I do Kaplan or Hurst?

I have failed boards several times and it has been 6 years, some of you may have seen my previous posts. Anyway, it's time for me to pass those boards!!!!!! I am looking into Kaplan and Hurst and am wondering which is better. I have read that Kaplan is very similiar to the boards, is Hurst too?

Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing versus Doctor of Nursing Practice

There are two main doctoral degrees in nursing: the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). The PhD is a research-oriented degree, whereas the DNP is a practice-oriented or clinical doctorate. How do these degrees differ and are they equal in status?
