Why can't you get Financial Aid with a Bachelors Degree?

I just received a Bechelors Degrees of Science in Health Care Administration, and now I am wanting to go for the Associate Degree of Nursing and become an RN at the local Technical College with a great nursing program. I visited the financial aid office today and she stated that since I have a Bachelors Degree I do not qualify for Federal assistance, as I had in the past with the Pell grant and the Stafford loan. She stated my options now are, private loans, such as Sallie Mae and Wells Fargo. Read More...

How important is ATI?

I have a Pharmacology ATI test tomorrow and am lacking ambition to actually study for it. It is worth 20 points at a Level 1, 17 for Level 2, and 15 at a Level 3, if we don't pass it we take it again, if we still don't pass it we get a 0. I'm just not concerned about 20 points I guess, I have heard that ATI is useless when it comes to NCLEX and if I don't have to pass it to pass the class, ugh, I would rather study the content that I need for upcoming tests that DO matter. Not that Pharma isn't important, because I do know it is, it's just ATI in general. Anyone have an opinion on ATI? Read More...

Nurses see us coming for clinical and RUN away from us. Irritating!

I swear every week when we go to our floor for clinicals the nurses pratically run away from us. The charge nurse on the floor tell us to just get with someone and last week every nurse I went to said they didn't want a student. I ran out of people to ask and I went in the breakroom and sat down until finally a nurse who doesn't like students took me. It was horrible. I watched the clock all day. Why did you become a nurse?

I was curious why all you guys out there became nurses. For me, I was tired of construction work and I was on a roof in the middle of winter. Needless to say, I felt like I could do more with myself even though, construction work can be gratifying.

I originally signed up to be an EMT. I later found out that advancement and salary isn't as good compared to other healthcare professions. I volunteered in a hospital and ER and really liked what nurses did. But, didn't fully understand until I was in clinicals during the first level of nursing school. Medical Terminology class--useful?

I am starting an ABSN program in August. All my prerequisite are finished (or will be in 3 weeks) so I don't need to take any summer classes. However, our comunity college offers a 1 credit, 6 week, online medical terminology class. The class is required for their nursing program and I was thinking it might be helpful to take before I start in the fall. Has anyone taken something similar? Was it worth it? Helpful? Unnecessary?
