One of my favorite things about allnurses is reading the posted "Stories" of how things used to be. I am amazed to learn about nursing in the past, and how things are different now.
I was blown away to find out student nurses could not be married during school, when one of my instructors went to a Public Charity Hospital based Diploma Nursing Program...
What was the wackiest scrub design you have ever seen? Do you prefer solid colors or design?

What are some of the most ridiculous things that patients or family members or even coworkers have said to you? We had one patient complain because I bent their straw down too far. Same patient also complained because we let them fall asleep and they had a "nightmare"...
I'm a new graduate and have the option between a telemetry floor or a med/surg floor. I ultimately want be work in the OR but I don't know which one of the units would be the better stepping stone. I don't which way to lean because the med/surg floor pays more and easier to travel too. Any advice or input would be much appreciated. Thanks!
And I am going to make mistakes, and run a little behind when I get an admission right at the end of the shift. But that is because I actually did the admission and took care of faxing all the med orders to pharmacy for you so the meds will be here when you make your rounds. Adolescent alcohol consumption is associated with increased risk of proliferative benign breast disease (BBD), which is a risk factor for breast cancer, and there is no evidence that adolescent folate intake provides a protective effect against alcohol-associated BBD, according to a study published online April 9 in Pediatrics.

MSN/DNP prepared NPs will earn the same as MDs/DOs with the same amount of time in practice...
I understand the scope of practice for NPs varies with each state. My question is: since there is a difference, will I learn the same techniques/instruction if i go to a school in a state that has a limited scope of practice versus one that allows more freedom for NPs? My worry is that I will miss out on some education if I attend a school in a state with limited SoP. Has anyone found this to be the case?
I was wondering what some of the non-anesthesia related duties a CRNA may be asked to perform with or without MDA supervision/approval. Among others, I am specifically wondering if a CRNA would ever be asked to perform a lumbar puncture.
