Older nurses taking forever to computer chart

I've been working on the surgical floor for 9 months now and I'm starting to feel like I'm getting the hang of things on my unit. I've learned a lot of tips and tricks and my time management has really improved.

One thing I'm getting really frustrated with is that some of the older nurses take FOREVER to computer chart. And from my observation a lot of it comes from them not "knowing how to use a computer"...

Would you marry a Doctor?

I'm new to this site and have been looking around. I was pretty shocked to read so many nurses saying they would never with a capital N, marry a DR? Are you kidding me? I would love nothing more to fall in love with and marry an intelligent, powerful, rich man who I have something in common with (healthcare). In fact, that would be like a dream come true for me. I dont get it?

Pressing charges on a psych patient?

I was just wondering if it is possible (or silly/ right/wrong) to press assault charges on a psych patient on a psych unit?

I work on a gero-psych unit and have been assaulted some time ago and not too long ago a coworker got a broken nose from getting punched by that same pt...

I am just curious if it's possible to press charges on the pt or because the pt is being evaluated and treated in a psych unit that it would be pointless or deemed silly since that's the reason the pt was admitted in the first place...?

Annoyed by nursing commerical they keep running

Does anyone still see the nursing commercial that keeps running on TV. At the end it says "you're a nurse you make a difference." I don't why but it annoys me to no end. Enough already!!! Most schools have a year long or more waiting list just to get in. There is no nursing shortage. Anyone else feel the same way?

What did you struggle with most in nursing school?

I am finished with all of my classes so I am not currently enrolled in school and have a good 6-8 months until I transfer to nursing school to become an RN.

I want to get ahead of the game and start studying some things. I've already bought a pathophysiology book, considering getting a nursing pharmacology book, and i'm looking for more ideas. What did you struggle with in nursing school or wish you had more time to study for?

Spanish for Healthcare Workers

I am done with prerecs (hopefully- waiting on transcript review) and plan to apply to NAU- Tucson for the traditional BSN program for Fall. In the meantime, I'm wondering if it would be helpful for me to take spanish 101 or spanish for health care workers?

Has anyone taken the HC spanish? It looks like it is the same as Spanish 101 but with an emphasis on health care vocab. There's also a conversational spanish I. I'm really torn about which course (if any) I should take.
