Nurses! Have you ever been told to "Just Relax"?

Nurse burnout is treatable through counseling, yet despite experiencing toxicity, we tend to feel as though we are able to "fix" ourselves. Stop this madness! Find joy, balance and boundaries by cycling back to determine what led you to want to heal others.

Alzheimer's: You Might Have A Problem If . . .

OK, I know this may strike some people as insensitive and lacking in compassion, but here are a few of the issues my mother and I have encountered -- and some of the things we've laughed about recently.

As an RN do you have your own pvt malpractice insurance?

I'm a new grad so bear with me! The hospital covers you from malpractice right? But aren't their situations where the hospital's insurance won't cover you? Is it smarter to get your own insurance in addition to the hospital?

Nursing Career & Relationships, Marriage

Hi, I'm very new to the Forum and I've spent some time reading various threads on the subject I'm about to touch on. I've decided to post probably for my own reassurances, but also mainly to vent a little bit about a situation I am currently experiencing. I'm hoping some of the individuals here will be able to help me and let me know what I can reasonably expect in the future. I'm hoping for some of my fears and worries to be put to rest as well.

Clients? Are they no longer patients?

Just curious about this...all my literature refers to the patients as clients now, has this turned into more of a business? When I think client, I think business, customer, etc.

First week of class wasn't what I expected.

Alright, this is my first post. I'm new to this so if I make any social web faux pas I ask to be excused. I was kicked out of my Nursing program the first week due to...irreconcilable differences between the instructor and I. I simply cannot imagine spending 2 years being taught by a woman who seems to have no passion for the field of Nursing. Any recommendations of good Nursing schools in New York State?? Thanks so much, and Take care.

Which pre-nursing classes did you find the most useful?

I'm trying to figure out which classes I should take this year as a pre-nursing student. Here is my background: I have a degree in Nutrition, and have already taken some of the required pre-nursing classes. However, I'm considering re-taking a few classes if they are really important because I want the information to be fresh in my mind for when I go into nursing next year. The only class that my school told me I HAVE to re-take is anatomy and physiology. But I am wondering if I should re-take some other courses as well?

12 hour shifts in California for LVNs - Overtime calculation?

I just started working 12-hour shifts for an Orange County Hospital. Nights from 7pm until 7:30am next morning. I'm full-time which is 3 12-hour shifts. My paycheck for 5 consecutive days had 5 hours overtime! One of those days was a holiday. Are nurses exempt from overtime on 12-hours? Does anyone know how the hours are calculated?
