A diet high in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), vitamin E and folate, and low in saturated fatty acids (SFAs), may help prevent the development of Alzheimer's disease, according to a study published online April 12 in the Archives of Neurology.

I was born male, and used medical means to make my body look more female. It has nothing to do with sex, because I am committed to celibacy. I am generally perceived as female by random people. But, I figure that, experienced medical professionals will "read" me (as I wipe the crud from the staff-room microwave, without pay...)
I just want my own medical history to be glossed-over. And, the vast majority of the time, it is.
So, I am scared about applying to nursing school. I have already see what they do, and how hard the job is.
"Oh well, at least you're ALMOST there to becoming a REAL nurse." I am really apalled at how judgemental other nurses can be! What is this so-called REAL NURSING???? This wasn't just one or two people...at least 20 nurses have criticized me for just working in a medispa...and now they are turning around and saying SubAcute is also NOTHING.
I'm going to be working nights for at least the first year of my new job in the ER. After reading all of the horror stories on here, I'm skeered
I know there have to be people out there who are working nights and aren't miserable...right?
Student Discussions
I will not go over study methods in particular because there are so many posts in this forum which addresses it, instead I think that most people fail this test by not understanding the nature of the beast. Yes you must have a good NCLEX type knowledge base and without that you can’t play the game, but that alone will not pass you, there is something else you must know.
I just wanted to share my annoyances ... as the student who didn't have a heads up of what to expect. I wish I was forewarned about the social aspect of nursing school because in reality you would be spending about 2 years with the same people and you are going to have to learn to tolerate them. I have categorized my "annoyances" from most annoying to least annoying, although some people fall in several categories.
I have 3 kids. 1,2, and 4 yrs old (almost 5). My oldest goes to school all day starting in the Fall. I was accepted to RN program at my local community college starting in the fall but it's during the day so I would have to put my other 2 kids in daycare. I feel soooo guilty as to the mere thought!!
Any input from mom's that have gone to nursing school while their kids were still young is greatly appreciated! Would you do it again?? Should I just wait until they are all in school? Should I do evening/weekend program?
Nursing Articles
I returned to nursing after having been at home with my children for a number of years. At first, I was apprehensive and uncomfortable. But I had a great team of nurses and a wonderful preceptor and eventually my "deer in the headlights" look gave way to an underlying confidence. I had learned to enter into countless new situations believing that I could learn to handle whatever came my way.
Regional Discussion - Texas
I'm a new RN, just passed the NCLEX and TX Nursing Jurisprudence Exam and was issued my license on 4/6/2010. Woohoo!
Very happy about that, right? Yes, but then....I'm having trouble seeing openings at different hospitals. Seems like the big ones have all but shut down new grad hiring (Baylor, Parkland, etc.) Does anyone know of any hospitals/clinics/LTCs in the Dallas area that are looking for new grads who already have their licenses?
