Alzheimer's Disease

Taking care of pediatric patients, my awareness about AD remained dormant. The only older people I was very close to, were my parents. Our close daily relationship, either over the phone or visits, stopped me from noticing the slow, but progressing change in personality and in ability to perform daily activities. I did not see the early stage of AD.

The hardest part of my job though is when I've been assigned a diabetic patient. Checking their blood sugar and injecting them, these tasks make me think back to my health choices in a negative light. Why am I not practicing what I preach? Army Nursing: All Good Things Must Come To An End

My relatively short time in the Army has contained some big life changes: a not-so-graceful exit from my 30s into my 40s with a divorce, a new relationship and marriage, nine months in a war zone, and a new-ish and abiding love of running. Did you know? "Code Brown" means tornado ... LMAO!

At both my hospitals Code Purple means natural disaster. At one hospital, this includes weather events. At my other one, I recently attended orientation, and the safety officer (not a medical person) described another color, Code Brown, for tornado.
