It's finally happening! I'm becoming a... NURSE!

When you enter nursing school, you're going to be told that you'll need to develop critical thinking skills. You'll have to learn to think like a nurse. At first, it may seem impossible to put all of the pieces together and there are bound to be some embarrassing moments where you feel like a dunce. The truth, despite how air-headed you may feel sometimes, is that after all of that studying, cramming, practicing, observing, and stressing you do in school- you slowly and surely begin to develop a "nurse's brain". The day you discover that truth will be nothing short of glorious.

ADN Or BSN?

Would you recommend getting your ADN first or go straight into a BSN program? Getting into some ADN programs can be very competitive and can take up a lot of time so I was thinking maybe starting the BSN program since I can get it in about 3 years tops. Advice?

Why should there be a certification to be a nursing assistant?

I feel a lot of it is pretty easy work to learn. There are already personal care assistants, nursing assistants that are in hospitals, home care aides, without being certified. CNA is very basic compared to what RN/LPN's do. What do you guys think?

What inspired you to be a nurse?

My inspiration comes from growing up with an epileptic mother and grandfather who got sick. Seeing the way the nurses cared for them inspired me to become a nurse.

When I think about being a nurse it brings tears to my eyes. I can't think of anything I'd rather do than help people. So, when did you realize that nursing was what you wanted to do? Was it an experience?
