NCLEX Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT)

Computerized adaptive testing (CAT) is the cutting-edge manner in which NCLEX has been administered since the mid 1990s. CAT adapts to each test taker's unique ability level by selecting subsequent questions based on how well or poorly the individual has been answering previous questions. Due to CAT, no two NCLEX exams will be identical.

The 85 percent of US-educated candidates who pass NCLEX on the first attempt walk across the open gate to their new roles as licensed nurses, while the people who fail must contend with a closed gate until they manage to pass. Read More...

Five Years Completed and Still Loving It

As a new nursing student, with a look of awe I would look at experienced nurses and think "Wow....I can't wait until I have been working as long as they have, to know what they know." Well, now I am there and I am the same person I was then. I just know a little bit more now.

I realized that I will never know everything. There is always room to keep learning, to keep growing and evolving. The key is to learn from my experiences and my mistakes and to use this knowledge for my benefit and for the patients I care for. The last five years as an RN were just as much of a learning experience as all of the years of school, if not more. Read More...

Surgical Nursing Student Question

I am doing a case study on a hypertensive 82 year old patient who is disoriented, confused and short of breath and who had fallen on her hip the day previous. Part of my study is to determine the possible causes for the high temp/high pulse, SOB and confusion. I suspect that she may have an infection and her confusion could be caused by that or the pain in her hip. Any more suggestions? Read More...

Will I struggle in nursing school if I never like math?

I love helping people and learning about the human body. I have an Associates degree in Health Information Technology in which I had to study Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology, Medical Terminology and Coding which all was interesting to me.
