But I read one more post where people say they aren't into nursing for the money, I am going to scream.
Seriously? Is anyone THAT naive?
NOBODY does work for free, out of the love of their hearts, unless they're independently wealthy and need something to do, giving back to their fellow man and all that.
All these people who are horrified at those who do nursing or doctoring or lawyering or any other profession for the money -- really??? And you personally would do it for free because you love your fellow man so much?
Hi everyone, I am new to this forum but I have been reading posts on this website for over a year now.
My question is does anyone enjoy nursing anymore? Some post are pretty negative about the career. I am 25 year old mother of two very young kids, 2 and 3 years old. I am going to school and recently decided to sign up to start LPN training in the summer. Some days I am very hopeful that this will be a great career for me to get into but then I read a bunch of post about nursing and I start to question my career choice. I'm just wondering if its worth putting my family through the rigorious routine that I will have to follow once I start the LPN training.
Student Discussions
I was just attempting to study and came across a word that makes me cringe. I know it's probably weird. Some words just evoke something in me, not all medical, I can't stand the words curd or moist.
Anyway, I was curious what some of yours were, or if it is only me that cringes at certain ones.
Since starting nursing school, Fistula is one I can't stand. Makes me want to gag just seeing it!
I am a pre nursing student and trying to write a persuasive speech on why smokers should not be allowed to apply for the nursing program.
What do you think? Should they/should they not? Why?
Nursing Articles
I am not one of those nurses who loved their bachelors’ program and reflect fondly on memories of clinicals, lectures, and professor reviews. Most of these events were traumatizing and left me in tears. My first experience with “nurses eating their young” began in nursing school. I should have counted how many professors told me I would make a terrible nurse.
Clinical News
The health of children with persistent asthma is linked to the quality of social interaction with their families during mealtime, according to a study published in the January/February issue of Child Development.
Regional Discussion - California
I currently work as a NP but in another state as I left California years ago, but am thinking of possibly returning.
Most of the salary data do not break down California into northern vs. southern and so I don't really know if there is quite a difference in pay, job market for nurse practitioners between the two regions. We have family in both part of California but nobody is in healthcare.
Anybody here with some information to share?
