Age appears to differentially affect regional aortic stiffness, with the greatest age-related difference in aortic stiffness occurring in the abdominal aorta and the greatest difference in systolic diameter occurring in the ascending aorta, according to a study published in the December issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Cardiovascular Imaging.

She asked me if there was any way she could hear it. Now I am fearing crossing a professional/student line by the thought of getting caught by my instructor, or a classmate finding me out and getting booted from my last semester. I did think about it, and decided I would chance a secret that I have not shared until now, as I write this article. She got it from me and hid it like it was gold in her sewing basket.

Let me ask you guys your opinion on this. They just hired a graduate nurse on our med surg floor and made her the charge nurse. She has zero experience. She is a BSN nurse, and the majority of us are LPNs that have been here a while. I don't have a problem with a grad nurse being a charge nurse, but with no experience at all? Has management in this hospital lost their minds?
Did I miss something? When did they start teaching this technique? I thought I was going to fail the infant check off because I disagreed with this technique. In the past I have worked in newborn nurseries and in a NICU. I just find it hard to believe that this is an acceptable technique and I ruffled a few feathers when I politely tried to explain this to the instructor. Has anyone out there heard of this before?
What did you do to get your current job? Did you carry a positive mindset? Did you ignore the hundred of threads of "no jobs for new grads"? Basically, what's your secret?

A woman in my class recently told me that she hasn't written a single paper - a woman she works with writes the papers for her. This woman asks my classmate to take her shifts and in exchange for working these shifts, the woman writes the papers for my classmate.
Should I talk to my instructor face-to-face? Should I leave an anonymous note? Should I send her an email? Should I not tell her at all? Guys, I really don't know what to do. I live in a small town, I have to deal with these women for another 4-5 months and I don't want them to find out and think of me as a snitch - but I really don't think it's fair for someone to be skating by like this when all the rest of us are working our butts off, earning the good grades we receive, and she's having someone else do half the work for her!
I have completed 3 semesters of Nursing School and so far, every lecture instructor has used PowerPoints in the classroom to teach. This method has been used probably 99% of the time. Why is this type of "teaching" popular? Why am I spending money to go to class to have somebody read to me when I am fully capable of reading the same material in the comfort of my own home? It seems lazy and insulting to my intelligence.
Any thoughts? Does anyone else have this experience? Does anyone benefit from this method of instruction?
I am taking nursing fundamentals and Advanced A&P next semester. I believe Nursing Fundamentals has to do with nursing history and theory. However, I am not sure what else it is about and what to expect in this class. Our school lets us take this class a semester before you enter the program. (I'm entering Fall 2011) Can anyone let me know what this class is about and what to expect?
Regional Discussion - Indiana
I live in northen Indiana. My question is, would it be beneficial for me to get my lpn before I get my RN? This way I could be getting some sort of experience while I'm getting my RN. I am ready to start a program fall 2011. All pre reqs are done. Just curious to see what everyone thinks.
