Oh dear I really have set myself off on a trip down memory lane!! Recently a doctor called me "very old school" I think it was meant as a complement but unsurprisingly I was horrified but to be fair when I look back so many things have changed so.... so you know your old school when you remember...
If a patient/former patient of yours (I'm not talking about a patient who happens to also be your friend from way way back or someone who is a family friend-----I'm talking about a patient you met initially on your floor as a nurse) add you in his/her facebook account, would you accept it? Why or why not? Just curious...
I finally realise something,
Someday, I WILL be like you,
Someday, I WILL have that experience...
Someday, I WILL become an expert...
Nursing school did prepare me for this...I just had to reach deep to find it.
The Difference between us? I will remember how it was being a novice.

I've wanted to be a nurse since I was 6 years old and I put off everything for my husband when we were younger. We got married young and he was in the military. Now I feel so sad and depressed. I feel so bad and so low and so dumb and worthless ... I'm not looking for pity here, I'm looking for options and to see if there is anyone out there who can say, hey I was where you are and now I made it, this is how...
Is it just me or does it seem like when this question is asked, "Do you like being a CNA?" Everyone basically just moans and gripes about it? For example, "Being a CNA sucks!" or "All you do is the grunt work, not enough pay, and you get hit/yelled at/pinched/kicked all day!" Of course, CNA's are going to do the grunt work... It's called starting from the bottom and working your way up. It would be like in any workplace if you're starting at the bottom. It'll usually never be what you WANT to do. It just makes me kind of sad to hear some of the things that people say about their job and especially about what they have to do.
I had imaginary thoughts of suicide lol . I know. Suicide isn't funny but I was never thinking of acting on it! Anyways.. What happened when you got rejected from a nursing school you applied to?

I dont know about you but I dont want my patients or my employers to view my photo's on facebook most of them are of myself, my family and friends enjoying themselves, some with drink in hand LOL. A lot of photo's are not work suitable, especially when you do education re dieting, alcohol use, smoking cessasion, limitation of exposure to sun. A lot of photos contain pictures of people indulging themselves in activites you frown on in your professional life but it real life these are the photo's you love to share.

I am seriously considering taking the LNA training but am a little worried because of my age - I am 57. Do you think I am too old for a career change? I am already volunteering at a hospital and love it. Any input would be really appreciated.
