People are rarely born being who they are to become, life experiences change and mold a person and create who they are. My path in life was forever changed the day my son was born and I held heaven in my arms. read more

I'm not meaning for this to sound like complaining, I'm sort of just wondering if it's a low hourly wage to start at. I just got hired last week and found out the starting wages are 19.60/hr. When I figure that rate per year it comes out to just under $34,000 per year. This is less than my spouse makes who is in her first year of teaching at a grade school, who we thought made bottom of the barrel salary. I guess we can't really complain as we're both newly out of school? I also checked several websites and most reported that the median average salary was quite a bit higher, this is why I'm surprised. Please add your insights. read more

I just quit today after two weeks. I thought I was lucky enough to land a job at a SNF/subacute place nearby. After the first week, I was in for a rude awakening. I had only 5 days of orientation in a 98 bed facility and was labeled charge nurse. Half the place is LTC, the other half subacute. 1st and 2nd shift have 3 nurses... read more
I took my exam today and I came out feeling totally empty. I got to 176 questions before the computer shuts down. I felt like I was getting every one of the last 10 questions wrong before it shuts down. Plus, I kept getting a bunch on infection control question, drugs, and priority questions ; It was a nightmare, I am so depressed. Did any of you take it recently, if yes how did you do...I am paying to get my result tomorrow and I know I wont sleep tonight...another thing, is there an RN chatroom where one can go and talk....I need some moral support. read more
Regional Discussion - New York
Considering that flu vaccines are being mandated here in NY (which includes H1N1 in addition to the regular flu vacc), does anyone know of any groups taking action against this? I've been reading up on this issue here on the boards and over the web and I'm wondering if anyone has any additional information. Basically, I am looking to see if anyone has raised the issue of this being against our rights at a legislative level (regardless of whether you are for or against the vaccs). Has anyone heard of any legal action being taken? (individually or not) Other than just arguing opinions and justifications, I want to know how this is being handled considering there is (in my belief) a violation of personal rights. read more
