How does your unit determine who floats?

I got floated yesterday and was told today I’m next to float again. I asked how I just floated yesterday. I was told it goes off float hours for the year and I now only have 12, thus am the lowest. Every other hospital I've known goes off who hasn’t floated in the longest. How does your hospital do it?

Does it get better?

Graduated a year ago. Working COVID clinic. I had a client who began to experience fainting. I caught him before he fell off the chair. I was in shock. I didn’t know what to do besides ask for help. My heart was beating so fast. I didn’t think of doing other interventions. Others came to help and took over. I feel so incompetent.

Nursing Staffing Post COVID Quagmire...

Covid did a number to nursing staff shortage like we never seen. Nurses call off all the time, some are leaving. The remaining staff is burned out from doing doubles. If I don't take a break from this I'll go insane and everyone is thinking the same.
