I'm asking for help and possible similar situations. I am a first year nurse in Med Surg and just had my first patient pass.

Discharging by Wheelchair

I've always been perplexed by the practice of discharging a patient, who will be independently ambulatory upon discharge, by routinely taking them to the hospital exit in a wheelchair.

Working for an insurance company? Anyone do it? Whats it all about?

I work in assisted living for now pushing a med cart. A hospice nurse came in one day and said his wife was also an Rn and worked for an insurance company and worked from home.

Should I go back to school?

Isn't NICU like adult ICU?

What’s the most desperate thing you’ve ever done to advocate for your patient?

Mine happened this weekend. I had a colorectal surgery patient who, while stable was not looking especially good. The patient's abdomen was getting more distended, they were having more pain, etc.
